Bielefeld, Germany in 1961 written by Richard Frank Briant
A few weeks after arriving in Bielefeld, I and 20 others went to Nijmegen on a marching competition. My mate Ian Peacock and I met up with a couple of Dutch guys who took us out on the back of their bikes. We had a great time and the Dutch people were so friendly.Meeting up in the Officer's Mess with a couple of great guys with whom I had a terrific time. The guys were Ian Peacock and Peter Payne, Peter came from Aylesbury or thereabouts and he came in his Mini Cooper S to stay with me in Bournemouth after I was demobbed, so Pete if you happen to see this memory, please get in touch. If a Keith Brown from Salford who was in the RASC in 1960 and came to my home town Bournemouth on a 48 hour pass, or Ken Smith a Scot (From Glasgow I think) who was also in the RASC in 1960, should see this message please get in touch. |
