Burma/India in 1943 written by George McWhinnie
My father-in-law died several years ago and I am trying to create a profile for him, based on his war service records. He enlisted 24/10/1940 as driver mechanic , Royal Artillery and served with the following units at domestic locations- 202 (LAA), then the following HAA's - 108,338,279,101,297. On 3/7/43 he disembarked at Bombay. Posted to 52 HAA on 22/6/45,then 101, 38, until embarked for UK 12/10/45. There are other entries, which I cannot make out. I only have one photo which I am trying to upload. it shows my father-in-law beside his lorry, which carried an anti-aircraft gun. I would be grateful for any information on the units he served with and the activities he may have been involved in. Also, any ideas as to the type of vehivle he may have driven?
Thanks in anticipation
