Northern Ireland 3 PARA. in 1971 written by JOHN CHARLTON
we were based in north Howard St. mill, and on this particular night at a barrier at the end of north howard st.on obs. There was an entry opposite so asked for a starlightscope[night vision] to cover it.The Lt. on duty officer refused and told me not to over react.Five minutes later shots rang out and he and the squaddy next to him were hit in the upper body. both were wearing flak jackets and were`nt seriously hurt.I had to restrain myself from saying `I told you so`. |
