15 BOD Glinde,Near Reinbek, Hamburg in 1948 written by david grantham
In 1948 as a 14 and a half year old lad my family moved to The RAOC Depot at Glinde. I had a great 2 years there. I went to school at Hohenzollern Ring School in Hamburg, travelling daily by Taxi. Learnt to ride a horse, sang on BFN, toured in a CSE play throughout the british sector and generally had the time of my life. Have not been able to contact any of my school chums but it is a long time ago. I always live in hopes. I am 65,000 words into my life story. Joined the Royal Navy in 1951 and retired from it in 1974. I still have a soft spot for the RAOC. |
