Borneo/Sarawck/Indonesia in 1965 written by FRANK DINSDALE
Being a young matelot and expecting all sorts of action I must admit to being more than a little relieved when I managed to survive the experience with no more than the odd hangover or to be more precise all the hangovers , there were more than a few if I recall correctly. Our main duties involved patrols and more patrols( the sea going variety although I did get to "command " a motor launch & complete a few harbour patrols , which were done without incident. In all the months we spent doing these chores we caught only two "insurgents",I felt rather sorry for them too, as the treatment they recieved from the Malaysian authorities was none too sympathetic !However when we were not busy with these duties we did play hard & made the most of what Singapore,Hong Kong & other visited ports had to offer .Two and one half years seemed a lifetime back then but merely a passing memory now.Of all the vessels I served on during my 12 years in Her Majesty,s Royal Navy H.M.S. Cassandra will always be the one which made the biggest impression on me and the one which gives me the happiest memories.God Bless The Queen. |

There is nothing worse than breaking down. But if you do, the RAC have more than 1,500 patrols ready to rescue you, whether you are at the shops or on the motorway. They will always try to fix your vehicle at the roadside, but if they cant they will make getting it repaired as painless as possible.
