malta and troop/s dilwara in 1957

 after basic and trade training in catteric[royal sigs 1957-60]i got my posting to malta,id hardly been out of manchester,i was so exited, 18 years of age, travelling down to southampton by myself,wow.boarded the dilwara and set sail. id never been at sea befor, what a fantastic experience,[this would never happen in civvy street]met some great lads on board,stopped at gibraltar and algiers [i think].we arrived in malta october 1957 and so began my 26 month hollyday. |
