Cyprus in 1977

 Alan Wright,Geordie Weighill,Pete Mclaughlin and a couple of others including myself sneaking out of a club in Larnaca,Cyprus. Namely the Black Cat,we had almost run out of funds and had to exit via the toilet window.Unfortunately we had a scalyback with us who stood on the piece of wood that straddled the hole in the floor beneath which was a cesspit.This was the standard cypriot toilet,needless to say the spar of wood snapped and our scalyback was deep in the proverbial.A difficult journey back to Dhekelia with the smelly and then a Turkish taxi driver pulling out a pistol when we stated we would liberate the Island for the Greeks.Ouzo can do funny things to otherwise sensible people.The scalyback who shall remain annon was my best man after a few baths.I tried to find the Black Cat a couple of years ago,it is now a Bank just behind the promenade in Larnaca. |
