Whilst having a rest during a convoy in
the desert a landrover, with Jordanians in it, smashed into one of our trucks seriously injuring the occupants. this put quite a downer on us.
Our officer had to report the accident to the arab leaders at the local fort.
On returning he cheered us up no end by telling us that whilst practicing a cannon salute for an incoming sheik, one of the cannons failed to fire so the guard looked down the barrel and you guessed it, it went off and so did his head!!!
