RAF Uxbridge WRAF band. in 1971 written by Bruce Fisher
Driving a coach full of WRAFs can be a bit intimidating for a young MT driver, but not so with the WRAF band. They were a polite and well behaved group of girls and driving them was one of the better coach driving jobs. It was always a treat for us drivers if we checked the following days work and found we were driving them somewhere. I dated one of the band for a short while, an attractive and pleasant girl called Susan. I think she played the French horn, if there is such a thing. We split up before we got really involved because we were young and at Uxbridge with so many other things going on in our lives. It was such a shame that they were disbanded and absorbed into the other RAF bands. |
