singapore (guard&guns) in 1962 written by john liversidge
in 1962 members of 43(lloyds coy)bty RA
traveled, from tampin (malaya)to singapore,to mount guard at the governors house.Dressed in our all whites we looked realy smart,as artillery always do.
While we were their we had another duty
to perform, fire a salute on famous or
imfamous,25 pounder guns concreted in
on the top of Blacangmati island, just of
sigapore, what thrill to be the last people to fire these guns before they
were destroyed forever.
The bty had a cartridge case egraved
i wonder where it got to.
