Joining up and first ship. in 1946 written by Albert Bond
Being to young to be in the WW2 went to Raleigh in feb 1946, did the Training routine a HMS Raleigh and then shiped to RNB Victory 1 at Portsmouth after a stint of leave, could not think of what it meant to me for the things to come to HMS Vanguard on the Royal Tour to South Africa, had basicicly god time on it except for one Jerk Petty Officer that was the watch PO who had a dislike against me, really a Bas_____ and made my life miserable, hated his inards, but life in the RN was nice after him and got drafted to another Ship, had good shipmates at HMLST Ben Lomond, on trip to British West Indies, and the nice draft to HMS Ariel in Culcheth. Lancs. Have tried to contact folks who were on those ships, no luck, hope that this will prove better luck. would love to hear from any chaps that served on those ships at that time. please send me an email.did some tie on HMS Daedelus and HMS Diadem For all the lads that served on those ships please give me a call on email. |
