ENGLISH CHANNEL DOVER, in 1944 written by Ronald DAVIES
Iwas able seaman on hms southdown, hunt class destroyer on convoy duty.Closed up at action stations entering the Dover Straits,we were attacked by, what we thought, were eboats, but when we were in dryy dock at Chatham, we were told by our skipper,Lt.Fanshawe that the action we were in was our own light coastal forces from Dover.I believe we sank two.I cant explain how we all felt and probably all do to this day,Cheerio for now and good luck to all .
