guards depot pirbright in 1964
written by Joseph Coates

I joined the guards in may of sixty four. within three minuets I realized that i'd made a terrible mistake, escape was impossible so with a heavy heart I undertook to serve the queen and protect the empire. For many years after I left the service, the scars of this terrible experience blighted my life. With the help of the church the samaritans and a great deal of drink I managed to put the whole experience behind me and rejoin mainstream humanity.only one obstacle remained and it was'nt untill 1975 that i finally overcame it. Let me explain

A peculiarity of the grenadier guards is that under no circumstances are you allowed to use the word "yes". In consequence for years I disagreed with everyone. This taboo was finally broken in a shop doorway in the rural hamlet of Quim in the offing, Shropshire. My companion was a young lady of recent aquaintence with who'm I had shared several drinks.I had just finished telling her how ardently I loved her and was in the process of begging her to marry me when with the expertise of much practice, she removed her underwear and asked if I'd like to f--- her, i of course said y-- the spell was broken. I hate to think that i am unique, has anyone a similar tale to tell
