denmark (exercise web foot) in 1979

 I remember the good old days when we were sent out on exercise WEB FOOT to provide comms from Germany to different locations in Denmark. We were a detachment of about 4 people assigned to provide comms from ship to shore and back to Germany (Kiel i think) the atmosphere was very relaxed, no stress, no problems. We had a few days in Kiel in Germany, and a couple of days Vordingborg, Korsør, Hundested, Stubbekøbing & Copenhagen. It was a great time (probably due to the fact that we had a 10t truck filled up with booze with us!) We had a great lieutenant with us (Lt wilken) and a good Sergeant too (cant think of his name but he could speak Danish because his wife was Danish) They were great days, and it is probably the reason that i live in Denmark now, and have been for the last 21 yrs. |
