Spitlgate then on to Bawdsey in 1967 written by Linda Jones nee Mills
My first memories of spitlgate was how cold it was.It was snowing when we first arrived, so the first day we were given shovels and told to clear the snow of the parade ground, what a welcome. I met some good friends and we all got stuck in to bulling the floors and moving the wardrobes to clean under them i'm sure a speck of dust never had chance to land any where near our billets. After six hard weeks we passed out. I was posted to Raf Bawdsey for training as an ado, where i was until i left the force in July 1972,i loved all my time in the airforce. |
