Incoming mail in 1965 written by John Mcleod
Working out of the old W/T hut that formed signals one of the most frequently asked questions when an aircraft was imminent was how much mail. As we received the flight plan and movement first. I often wondered if The late famous Johnnie Johnston knew the effect of him bringing a tender up to go fishing meant that the Beverly would carry less mail, at least thats what we were told.I wonder at the fact the life of the camp depended so much on the signals section and that it might have been at least one of the last few route stations with purely W/T as a main source of comms fond memories |
