1945 Egypt and Malta in 1945
written by peggy stoker nee harrall

We went out on the SS Volendam in 1945. 12 wrens and 1 wren Officer. We landed up in Alex Egypt went over the desert to El Alamein and then on to Mersa Matruh. Pauline Paddy Helen DRew and Peggy were some of the wrens names. We eventually were shipped to Malta and stayed there until demob. I wonder if any of the other wrens are still around. I would so love to contact them if so. I am now 81 yrs. of age but still going very strong with lots of activities and very happy. GOOS LUCK EVERYBODY Peggy

I was so happy in my Malta Posting. while going to Taormina in Sicily on leave I met A Chief Petty Office (E.R.A.) who I fell madly in love with. We courted for 10 months and saw each other as often as we could. However it wasn't to be, IT eventually turned out that he waa already married and he went back to his wife when he returned to England. Jock was a heel but I never ceased to love him. I hope that he has had a happy life since those days. Moonlight Serenade and gliding across the dance floor in his arms will always stay with me. I DID HAVE A HAAPY MARRIAGE to a lovely GEORDIE who I met after I returned to England Peggy
