CEYLON in 1957 written by john moffatt
serving on hm/sm "trenchant" we visited trincomali and were accomodated in the local barracks.During leisure time, i burst both my ear drums, was hospitalised, and was unable to return to malta on "trenchant" I was lucky enough to hitch a lift back to malta on "hms ceylon". Being a submariner, it was just like being on a cruise ship, with no duties as such, and visiting ports up the "gulf" and the suez canal. (good memories of my time on the stokers mess) |
