Garden of Remembrance in 2001 written by David Campbell
On the 8th November 2001 my wife and I attended the Garden of Remembrance Service at Westminster Abbey, London. The high point of the day, I am sure for us both, took place during the 'Walkabout' of Her Late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. My wife and I were both fortunate enough to be in the rank closest to the path, along which the Queen Mother was travelling in her converted Golf Cart, and we were both rewarded by a handshake from this most gracious lady when she passed by. A day that shall forever live in my memory, especially as she has now passed away. |
