RAF Sundern, 2nd TAF in 1955
written by Brian Connell

After wooden billets in England and Northern Ireland (The RAF at that time had not heard of the management phrase 'duty of care to our employees')RAF Sundern was heaven. Brick buildings, central heating, wood parquet floors and double glazing. An excellent NAAFI and beer bar. I made many friends there including those of the Naafi and German security staff. Two particular Naafi girls; Helga Leuschner and Sigrid Heidemeyer were great friends although the latter ditched me for a 'Snowdrop'. The fact that he was an RAF policeman hurt more than actually being ditched.
