The year I passed the Commando Course at Lympston and joined %9 Independant Commando Squadron - Royal Engineers.
I was the final member of the first troop to form up, Condor Troop.
We were based in Arbroath, Scotland, attached to 3 Brigade Royal Marines.
Our main sphere of operations :
Norway during the winter - ski soldiers.
Northern Ireland - one week tours and 3 month tours.
Isle of Skye - mountain exercise.
Weymouth - water exercise (wading ashore)
Glen Gorm - skiing/mountaineering.
Rest of Scotland - building/destroying.
