Malaya 1952/1954 in 1952 written by Leslie Gray
I along with 14 others,bound for 27 Coy
RASC at Kuala Lumpur, disembarked from the HMT Lancashire in Singapore, early in May 1952.Being the senior soldier by about a week.I was put in charge of the party, and told to draw arms and ammunition, then proceed to the railway station to report to the RTO.Having done this,we were told to board the night train to K.L.and with our rifles and ten rounds each,we were to mount guard at each end of each carriage, for the trip. Our first taste of active service. We were pretty nervous during that trip.Only to find out on our arrival that the train had not been attacked for nearly a year. |

There is nothing worse than breaking down. But if you do, the RAC have more than 1,500 patrols ready to rescue you, whether you are at the shops or on the motorway. They will always try to fix your vehicle at the roadside, but if they cant they will make getting it repaired as painless as possible.
