D Dday Landings 6th June 1944 in 1944 written by Wally Morris
I remember being on watch for 36 hours without any sleep as we were carrying the troops over to the Normandy beeches. After several days at sea we were allowed shore leave on the Isle of Wight..There were three or four of us. I remember Wally Smith, Wally Stretch, but I can`t remember the others. We missed the Liberty Boat that was to take us back to our ship. It was the next day before we got back, and we were all arrested for being absent without leave. I was sent back to Shoeburyness where I got 7 days "Jankers",and I never saw any of the others again. If you are out there guys please get in touch. |

There is nothing worse than breaking down. But if you do, the RAC have more than 1,500 patrols ready to rescue you, whether you are at the shops or on the motorway. They will always try to fix your vehicle at the roadside, but if they cant they will make getting it repaired as painless as possible.
