4 ARMD DIV HQ & SIG REGT HERFORD in 1987
written by Tony Evans

Where do i start?Well it was May 87,i found myself standing in the guardroom suitcase in hand,a proper "NIG"(new in Germany)Every squaddie would snigger and smirk, and say what the hell do you wanna get posted here for its a hole .At this point i wish i,d never put down 4 DIV as my first choice, still i,m here now.2 Sqn Alpha Troop the Provo Sergeant shouted, with that I was away down the cobbled road past Regt HQ (with which little did i know i would get accustomed too later on!)onwards 2Sqn block here i was, dread and fear overcoming me!

Staff Sergeant Niccols,Sergeant Enfield (Kev)Sergeant Major Captain Major, how am i gonna remember all these, believe me sooner than i thought!"Sig Evans RP Staff after you cleaned all the horse mess of the tank park" hell i thought, shovellin muck.....already!!16 5th Lancers had their stables at Hammersmith Barracks some horse show, all day that took me about 26 black bags later,i was done.If this is what a working Unit is like, mum i,m coming home!!........................the story continues
