Operation Husky.Sicily in 1943 written by Thomas Jones
I was with one half of 3 Commando, ssneaking in at 11 30pm on the 9th, to wipe out an italian coastal battery. As we approached this battery someone fired a Tommy gun and the Garrison started running about the place, shouting Commando. We immediately started asking how the devil they knew who we were Until One of ours shouted out that The Italian R.S,M.s rank was Commando. The element of surprise had long gone. |
