SE Asia, Malaya Command in 1945 written by Bill Lovelady
My unit, 33 Movement Control, RE, was flown from England to India in 1945 to take part in the invasion of Malaya. However, while we were in a transit camp in Madras, the war ended with he Japanese surrender, and the unit was broken up. I was posted to Singapore, where I worked on the docks as an Emabarkation Staff Officer. I later served as a Staff Captain at Malaya Command in Kuala Lumpur and as Embarkation Commandant in Penang.I was demobbed in May,1947. |
