Queens Silver Jubilee in 1977 written by David Parkman
Marching down the Mall in London in the Corps of Drums playing the London Medley, and the crowds cheering as we passed the birthday cake and entered the mall.It was our troop that year 2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards, we played well and we were the best Corps on parade, those were the days when the troop was 8 guards and five bands along with five Corps...all playing..sounded great Bill Poppert was the side drummer who beat fall in and Kit Green was Drum Major, after spending 75/76 in Hong Kong we had the best Corps in the division, happy days, when being a drummer meant something. |
