Fire picket duty 402 AIR STORES PARK RAF Wildenrath in 1955 written by leslie jackson
Does anyone out there remember the night when we were on fire picket duty and the battery charging waggon went up in flames? Because we were an important supply unit everyone had to learn to drive. How we never killed anyone is beyond me. Does anyone from 402 ASP remember having to live in the GSO billets? these were originally ment to house German civilian workers but in all my service years 1953/1956 they were never occupied by them.
Called up for national service April 1953 Kitted out RAF Padgate then onto RAF Wilmslow for 8 weeks? basic training. After training on to RAF Wildenrath Aug/Sept 1953 and left there 1956 for demob to RAF Glouster, I signed on for 3 years at the outset of my service.
