542 Sqdn RAAF Darwin 56/58 in 1956 written by James Williamson
On arrival at Darwin there were now proper billets for us. Hessian sacking was nailed arround the stilts the billets were built on and that was our home for some months. That was also when we saw our first snake it was chopped into little pieces by some brave soul, Poor Python!!!
The next to go was a Kookaburra the used to laugh very early in the mornings
Some aussie booked a shotgun from the armoury and woke the hole camp up. The Kookaburra neve laughed again

There is nothing worse than breaking down. But if you do, the RAC have more than 1,500 patrols ready to rescue you, whether you are at the shops or on the motorway. They will always try to fix your vehicle at the roadside, but if they cant they will make getting it repaired as painless as possible.
