Before moving to Aden I remember starting school at St Oswalds C of E in Rugby..... and all the awful injections we had to enjure before moving out to Aden, I am not sure of any of the years. but I do know My Dad Miah (Sticks) Weilding was heavily into Go-Karting, and anything mechanical, I believed he liked his Pint too..! One Family by the name of Ashover and another of Kerslake, are a couple that seem to spring to mind as being at Church Lawford at the same time. Miah (Sticks) was my Father who served in Aden during the early 60's, I don't know much about his service history, he died in June 1966, his last station was RAF Waterbeach Cambridgeshire.I do have fond memories of living in Aden, and remember having the Kings own Scottish Borderers Pipe band several times at our apartment in the Mala Straight. Dad was a drummer, (not in the Pipe band) he even played in a band of some sort, but it is all a bit hazy . I am his eldest Daughter Daryl, and have two older brothers Butch (Miah) and Neil, and a younger sister Kate.I would love to hear from anyone who may remember My Dad. I'm afraid any details of his time in the RAF or who he was attached to,have not been passed on to me or my siblings, we are very much in the dark over this information. On returning from Aden, we were posted to Sandwich in Kent for a short time, and then on to Waterbeach where this was to be our last posting for Dad. We have all stayed in the Cambridgeshire area,as have another Family by the name of Weaver.
Dad also served in Penang Malaya, where Mum and he got married, and my brother Butch was born. then on to Thorney Island, where my other Brother Neil, and myself were born, after that we went to RAF Aldergrove, this is where Kate was born, and after that I think it was Church Lawford!! |
