WRAF BAsic Training Spitalgate in 1970 written by VEE PATTERSON
I remember getting off the train at Grantham Station on a cold October afternoon and getting on a bus with lots of people and a WRAF Sergant being realy nice to all of us, when arriving at RAF Spitalgate and having my first meal.
I made so many friends over the 6 weeks of training I wish I could remember all of them, but we were allocated a block called Cheshire Block and we were on the top floor, in my room was about 20 others and some of them were called Ann, Penny Sandra Leroy and Mary she was from Belfast, Sylvia from Ashford in Kent and we had a great girl who we nicknamed Budgie Legs, why I never now but she was from Liverpool and I can never remember her proper name.
I would love to meet up with anyone from F Flight who joined up in October 1970 or just get in contact with anyone especially Anne Penny or budgie legs! |
