Melodious Intent

So listen to the rhythm of the falling rain
And see if therein a message lies
For the gentle tip tap on the window pane
Which you can readily melodise
And add the words you want to hear
Come forth to you once again
And you have now created a Ballad
The Rhythm of the Falling Rain
For this is surely one method
Of how songs come to start
And depict our innermost feelings
Or matters of the heart
Wherein we may soar above the clouds
Or merely float on the crest of a wave
But sometimes wallow in a mire
Strange how our minds behave
Not really knowing which way to turn
For ’tis all written in the book of life
Experience is the way to learn
How we overcome trouble and strife
To identify your inner desires
To choose which path is right
Then you can sit at your friendly computer
And compose love songs all through the night.

Radio Times

Time to reflect on yesteryear
To think of days long gone
As you reclined in comfort in the garden
And for company had the Radio on
You thought of the days as a young girl
When you ran and skipped with ease
On the way for a meeting in the Park with your friends
To enjoy yourselves in any way you please
There were swings and even a roundabout
Which you could all jump on and ride
As you sit and contemplate what to do next
Perhaps  come down  backwards on the slide
Though childhood at the time passed so slowly, so it seemed
But on reflection those days went so fast
And you realised your schooldays were over
When your final Exams you had passed
And now into a young lady you had grown
Perhaps with tears that mixed with laughter
It was time for you to earn a living on your own
To succeed in life you have to be a grafter
You knew it wouldn’t be too easy
In that great big world out there to find
A career that would give you most security
And to live your life with peace of mind
But if you were asked to look back, in life
Is there something you would choose to change
Or do you merely accept life as it is
And nothing wish to re-arrange
For life is a long and winding road
And wisdom comes with age
Instead of growing older, as you think
In your book of life you’ve written another page
And now you’ve come back to the present day
Is there somewhere you’d like to go
Or are you content to sit in the Garden
And listen to your Radio.

Life’s Deck of Cards.

Life is like a pack of cards
No one knows what fate has in store
And I believe it is the gamblers in life
Who will play for evermore
Whether they win or lose won’t matter
They’ll do their best to win
Ever hopeful that their luck will change
Where others a coin will spin
Every player is eager
To see what a hand they’ve been dealt
Fate can be a cruel dealer
Downfall for many has spelt
Played as a game of light relief
Patience is the one people choose
A game played by one player
Tho’ still you can win or lose
But much the same is the game of Life
When the stakes are running high
Opportunities grow and blossom
But bad hands fade and die
In the game of Life when you’re handed an Ace
Or maybe Aces  two or three
This raises your hopes of achievement
Arousing your expectancy
Of a change in fortunes inside your Family
To put you on the upward grade
Overcoming your difficulties
And bad times seem to fade
And it’s now that you should play your Joker
Your opponents are now at your feet
As you stroll away from Life’s Gambling Table
As a winner with happiness complete.

The Poppy Fields

We know not what is in the wind
Cast by Mother Natures hand
Or borne by the birds as they soar through the sky
Never selective of where the seeds land
An onward progression that never stops
Germinating from seeds however sown
Ensuring that yearly the fields hold crops
To be harvested when fully grown
Whether it be wheat or barley or oats
Which variety it’s shade of gold denotes
But other crops their colours vary
Some variegated at the head
Except for acres and acres across the horizon
Creating a beautiful carpet of Red
Gently they wave their heads in the breeze
As the Autumnal Season appears
‘tis the Poppy with it’s silken leaves so gentle
Adopted from Flanders fields for Oh! so many years
In memory of all the Soldiers that fell there and died
Each year Millions of Poppies will show
To make sure that the Sacrifice that they made
Ever present today as it was long ago
Tho’ gone from this life they are ne’er far away
Remembered in Reverence with all heads bowed
They gave their tomorrow for our today
So that with Peace in our lives we are endowed.
