Lorraine Weights and the London Marathon

So here’s a tale of a wee lassie
A braw Scottish “girrel” were she
Always out to achieve her goals in life
And her latest was for Charity
I’ve known her now for a year or three
And even with friend Jacquie we met
But many a laugh we all shared together
At night on the Internet
It was through a posting on Facebook
I learnt Lorraine’s training had begun
Not only as member of keep fit classes
But a serious marathon run
I think all her friends watched her progress
And shared with her the aches and the tears
Which may have helped her to cope with her achievement
As she finished among applause and cheers
For this brave young lady had entered and completed
The Marathon Run in London this year
Success once again was in her grasp
In a run where thousands or runners appear
Congratulations to you young lady
For your continued determination vigour and zest
Proudly wearing the coveted “T” shirt
With “FINISHED” emblazoned across your chest
But this applies to only this race
Until another target for you is found
Then on with the shorts and the “T” shirt and trainers
As once more the pavements you will pound.

“Muppet”

If you cast your mind back over the years
Perhaps as a child at school
When Mum would wait at the school gate
Nobody inside the gate was the rule
And as the parents met and chatted
Perhaps about shopping they had to get
Or all manner of everyday things
But sometimes to admire another Mum’s pet
For this was the time the parents used
To give  exercise to their pet
And often inspired other parents
A gift for their child they might get
So they’d broach the question quite nicely
And if a canine friend their children might please
They’d browse thro folders and brochures
To see if they’d select one from these
There were Corgi’s, Red Setters and Poodles
Some Chihuahua’s and German Shepherds too
Dachshunds, Beagles  and Airedales
Dalmations, Shih Tzu’s  to name but a few
Pomeranians, Border Collies,  Weimaraners
Rottweillers  make some people sigh
Having looked at all these wonderful breeds
‘T was the Jack Russell that caught their eye
When the cheeky young Puppy came before them
A feisty young fellow was he
As  if saying go on then buy me please
And a very good Family pet I will be
So home he went them that very d ay
The children were really very glad
As he was very small they named him “Muppet”
He was the first pet they’d ever had
Jack Russell’s are playful and mischievous too
In confinement their freedom they’ll seek
So he was kept on a lead  or well fenced enclosure
And no destruction or havoc did he wreak
But he did all the things that new puppies do
“wee’d” on the mat and ran away
But very quickly learned that wasn’t the thing to do
But carry out that function whilst out to play
And as the weeks passed by more adventurous Muppet became
Left on his own a slipper or a shoe he would chew
Then hide behind the settee a she knew he’d done wrong
And realised chastisement was due
When walking in the fields they had to take great care
As “Muppets” hunting instincts might draw him away
And it’s not too unknown for dogs of his breed
To run down rabbit burrows and there stay
After a good outing and returning home again
He’s run around with the children and play
And then quickly eat his food followed by a drink
And settle in his basket for the rest of the day
When the owners went to bed he slept in a wire enclosure
With ample room to move about I have to say
Waiting for the morning sound of someone in the kitchen
To be let out to start another day

Life’s Ocean 2.

How long is a lifetime
I wonder every day
Where minutes seem to be like hours
As time drags on it’s way
Where once I had the Midas touch
My dreams just turn to rust
All the things that I hold dear
Now crumble in my hands falling in the dust
How  can my life have changed so much
Precious Memories seemingly lost
As I sail upon Life’s Ocean
In stormy Seas I’m tossed
Sometimes when I’m tired and weary
And sitting all alone
I close my eyes and think of many things
In a Fantasy World of my own
The pent up emotions inside me
From the outside world I must hide
Yet never finding the answer I need
No matter how hard I’ve tried
All of these things going round in my head
As though in a perpetual whirl
Is this what happens to everyone
Or am I just an unfortunate girl
Then as I look through the window of my soul
A glimpse of Sunlight shines through the cloud
Happiness may be coming back to my life
Removing this eternal shroud

George

There’s a story I’d like to tell you
It happened some years ago
When I was just a novice
And the ropes I didn’t know
I’d not long donned the Uniform
To operate as a W P C
In fact a lady policewoman
That’s what I wanted to be
When one day whilst on duty
I took a call from a lady in distress
So I took down all the details
With adequate carefulness
The Lady’s name and address
Quite clearly noted where
Then joined a waiting patrol car
Which quickly took me there
When I asked what was the problem
I made a note of what she said
I’m worried about my Dear George
I think he’s in the Lounge lying dead
So I’d called the Paramedics
Which I thought was right and fair
And they pulled up the same time as us
And one escorted me in there
The worried lady led the way to the Lounge
“Poor  George is in there” was what she said
And as we entered the room we saw
On the carpet a Budgie lay dead
So the moral of this story was
If you’re with this situation met
Please don’t dial the Police on 999
Just phone you local Vet

Life’s Rainbow

To sit and close your eyes as tho’ in sleep
Perhaps to reflect on  events now past
Thankfully the Happiness you keep
But the scene before you leaves you aghast
For life is like the colours of the Rainbow
Stark but sometimes serene
With Pastels there in tranquility
To calm the turbulence in between
First you may notice predominance of blue
Representing the sky above
Tinged by the Golden rays of the Sun
To envelope you in a world of love
Then the change may be Oh! so rapid
As Pastels to Vibrants quickly alter
Reflecting the tumult within your soul
Could this be the moment you falter
It could move from Lilac to Mauve and onwards
Giving warning of trouble ahead
Followed by  Mauve and Purple and Violet
And maybe a menacing Red
But if I were an Artist
This knowledge I could impart
To put this image on Canvas
Creating a work of Art
The Blue of the sky and the Sun  up above
You’re in a boat with the wind and the spray
You’ll weather the Storm on Life’s Ocean
And chase all your demons away
The pain and the sadness and sorrow in Life
Are depicted by the Vibrant colours severe
Then the Green and Lemon and Blue Pastels
Embracing  friends and loved ones holding you dear
Look forward to a colourful existence
Forget about the danger of Red
Take each and every day as it comes
For “ He who dares wins” it is said.
