2 Timothy 3:12 (KJV)
12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
Right from the beginning of Christianity, Roman Emperors have tried to destroy it. Some Emperors were more violent than others in their attempts at suppressing the faith. Diocletian was one of the most violent. He was Emperor from 284 - 305 AD. He murdered so many Christians in the most cruel ways he could devise and destroyed so many Bibles that most Christians had to ’go underground’, to hide from his terrible treatment. When he thought he had eradicated the ’cult’ of Christ, he had a medal struck bearing the motto, "The Christian Religion is destroyed, and the worship of the (Roman) gods is restored". It was not until an edict from Constantine in 313 that the persecutions of Christians was ended. | | Report Post |
