So that’s it then? I’m a total disappointment. My teachers were right all along.

The only problem is I don’t have any sackcloth and ashes, because I’m a nudist and I don’t smoke.

I would go down to the bottom of the garden and eat worms, but I’m a vegetarian.

Well JJxx, I kind of tended to agree with the complaints regarding the Olympics, but never the Queen.

Good job you stood me up/ or I stood you up at the cyber space altar, as you would be in the ’Tower House’ not the ’Dog house’ at the moment.

I’ll tell you true story, Bubbles

I was once at a Buckingham Palace Garden Party and was talking to the Duke of Edinburgh.

Prince Charles walked up to the Queen and asked, "Who on earth is that funny looking man talking to daddy?"

The Queen turned and looked and said, "Oh, that’s Prince Philip!"

I think the people have voted on the Monarchy over the last three days; millions lined the streets of London waving Union Jacks even more watched it all on TV in the UK & world wide, while a couple of hundred Republicans stood forlorn waving their little placards looking miserable & being ignored. Game shot & match to her Maj me thinks.

God save the Queen, long may she rule over us.

Now for the London Olympics...they are just that the London Olympics, they have had millions spent on them with improved roads & new & improved stadia & 99% of the events plus all the income from the tourists, what does the rest of the UK get?...The bill.

Walks away singing ’God save the Queen’ with a manly roughy toughy lump in my throat.

Quite right!

The Republicans in NZ and Australia have been remarkably stilted in their usual comments over the last four days!

Britain is up to its gills in recession, yet through a combination of private donations and a variant of Dunkirk spirit, managed to pull off a stunning show of strength and pride, nicely tempered with eccentricity and anachronism. (And the inevitable bloody-minded quantities of rain, which only served further to typify the British can-do spirit at its best). Arguably the whole thing – royalty, flotillas, bunting – is one giant anachronism, but what a magnificent one.

Well done!
