Yep I remember those, they had a little red tip on the end, addicts ended up with diabetes.

I used to smoke 60 tabs a day.....then stopped completely, no cutting down. I tried the cutting down way several times before that but it didn’t work for me.

well the smoking debate seems to be "Dragging"on (excuse the pun )  scan any of you remember the 20 Pack of Kensitas with a little Pack stuck on the side which said "And Four For Your Friends" , when i went to Egypt in 1951 on the Empress of Australia , we were handed that many cigarettes the blokes played 3 card Brag with them , the irony was i didnt smoke at that time, even when i started it was not for long , my rare Drag was on a Slim Pantella with a pint when i left work  so what is the general Concencus Should Smoking be banned or not,
               can anyone remember the Comedien
       by the name of N O S M O - K I N G .

Erm, I thought I wouldn’t post again on this but Maurice has ’dragged’ me into it again.  (Sorry for repeating that pun folks.)

The Kensitas packets Maurice is referring to were, unless my memory plays me false, labelled K4 somewhere on the front.  I went out to Egypt - and returned later from Libya - on the Empire Halladale where we bought tins containing fifty Players or whatever brand we wanted.

When they were opened the aroma was so appetising that you felt that you could cut it and eat it.  Mmmm.  Delicious.

I remember Nosmo King quite well and heard him many times on radio.  He is reputed to have been inspired to call himself that when he saw the words on double doors which were partly open and had NOSMO on one door and KING on the other.  True or not it’s an interesting tale.

With reference to your next to last point Maurice ’Should smoking be banned?’ I think I’ll refrain from offering an opinion on that as I have said so often it is up to the individual.

TC.

Terry, Smoking never did any harm to Mackerel or Haddock.

strange isnt it , openend the pages pf the Local Rag lastnight and low and behold some one had wrote in with views about Smoking the main point was people having a "drag"out side of local establishments including the Hospital and disposing their "Leftovers"on to the Pavement, now who is to blame for this it must be the Powers that be who are dead set on making people who do Smoke  ,Pariahs and Lepors of society by not letting Establishments provide them with proper ventilated facilities sorry to say Smoking ,drinking and Oh yes Prostitution is here to stay and will never go away,  As the old saying goes , You can lead a Horse to Water  but you cant force it to drink, if wecarry on with this debate we will all soon be out of "Puff" ,

A small diversion here on the subject of Nosmo King. Despite his name, he always appeared on stage smoking a large cigar, and as a further affront to political correctness, he was usually blacked up. Can you imagine a black-faced cigar smoking comic appearing now?

PS Why have the last two posts wasted so much space?
