Hi Gwyneth,
Here’s ab it more info for you and I’m guesssing that it’s from the same source as your original info and it’s much the same except for one additional piece of info that doesn’t seem to have been passed on to you.
The address of where the original records are kept.
Although it does now seem as if you were assuming that was him in Germany and that you didn’t already know his regt. for sure.
Since the family remembers him as having been a prisoner in Japan, I wouldn’t think they would have been wrong about that, so chances are that German Cyril isn’t your relative.
However the records might give you his date of birth which will enable you to eliminate him or any other candidates from your search.
That’s assuming of course that you do know his date of birth.
I assume that he survived the war. ?
I assume that he is now deceased.
If the family have his death cert that should list his date of birth, or you might get from his British legion records if he was a member, or from his former employeer if you know them, or from an old pension book or some other docs of his that the family may have.
Otherwise it should be possible to find that info via some genealogical research online, I can help you with that if you need that, either on here or via email infohere at hushmail dot com.
Meanwhile here’s the info with the source address.
