we will remember them 422

Yesterday, three more of our soldiers were gunned down by an Afghan wearing the uniform of the Afghan
police. Two were of the 1st Bn The Welsh Guards and one from the Royal Corps of Signals, a fourth soldier was slightly wounded. The murderer was shot and wounded and is now held at Camp Bastion. 26 members of the NATO forces have now been killed this year by Afghans in uniform, most American.

Our thoughts#and prayers are with the families at this sad time. May they be comforted in their grief . - John 16:20 says:  "I tell you the truth, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy.
Revelation 7:17 For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eye".
Hard as it may be for these soldiers colleagues to take on board,
"Deuteronomy 32:35 :
" To me belongeth vengeance and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste."
cf Romans 12:19.Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

They shall grow not old
As we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them
Nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the Sun
And in the morning
We will remember them

Remember Them 423

Two more British soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan. This was yesterday. One was from 3rd Bn The Rifles, the other from 30 Armoured Engineers. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families, friends and colleagues of these men.

Father of all mercies and God of all consolation,
you pursue us with untiring love
and dispel the shadow of death
with the bright dawn of life.
Give courage to the families in their loss and sorrow.
Be their refuge and strength, O Lord,
reassure them of your continuing love
and lift them from the depths of grief
into the peace and light of your presence.
Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ,
by dying has destroyed our death,
and by rising, restored our life.
Your Holy Spirit, our comforter,
speaks for us in groans too deep for words.
Come alongside your people,
remind them of your eternal presence
and give them your comfort and strength.
Amen

They shall grow not old
As we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them
Nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the Sun
And in the morning,
We will remember them

Remember Them 424

A soldier of 1st Bn. Grenadier Guards has been killed whilst on Guard in Afghanistan. His family have been informed.

We offer our thoughts and prayers for the family of this soldier as well as for the previous 423 who have given their lives in that conflict.

You are all-powerful, God, and live forever in light and joy. Look with pity and love, we beg You, on those men and women who bravely fought and gallantly died for their country. By laying down their lives, they showed supreme love for others.

Accept, we ask You, their sacrifice and their belief in the justice of the cause they died for. Let their offering not be in vain. Please forgive any sins and faults they may have committed. Speedily, we implore You, bring them into Your Presence where fear, sadness, mourning, and death cannot exist.

Have pity in Your loving kindness on those they leave behind. In Your own unsearchable ways, make good for their absence, and lavishly bestow Your love and consolations on those deprived of their presence. This we ask in the Name of Christ, our Victor King. Amen.

They shall grow not old
As we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them
Nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the Sun
And in the morning,
We will remember them
