THE MIDDLE EAST>

It is with great concern that i notice that the unrest i spreading in the middle east. after the egyption saga..
other countries in that area are now in  tumoil and unlike the egypt  saga.  the armies of these countrie are firing on the  citizens by  orders of the  rulers of these    states.
i fear that as the rulers  cling for  control  the whole middle east will erupt  very soon.
this will spell disaster  for great britain and the continental countries also america. and i fear that our boys will be embroiled in a further war  to wage,
iran i dont thing they would have to interfere there as  they have noting to protect there and they would  welcome a  regime  change there.
but i am worried about the  gulf states and the med states.
as  there is more  interests to protect their. whivh means oil and the existence of isreal.
so we can expect some very interesting times ahead.
if  democacies  appear that are not hostile then all will be well but i fear that there is a risk that hostile goverments will emerge and this will fuel the fire.
i hope that  this dose not happen and the whole  middle east would be able to live in peace.
but this i fear is pie in the sky.
i look with interest.

It will be very interesting to see how Libya fares.     As I can remember when Gadaffi took over and I believe that we were one of the last of the British Troops to do an Ex over there which was 69 as it made a change from doing an Ex on Soltau.

I remember going on exercise there in the sixties Bill but I thought mine was around 1967/68. I stayed at the U.S. airbase at Wheelus Field. I took some great photos on a little old camera but lost the film so never got them developed which was a great pity. I remember going through a place I think called The Garian Pass in an open landrover  and sleeping out in the desert ( freezing at night ) under the amazing starry skies.

Fortune favours the bold

he seems to be using a heavy hand at present as according to bbc world he is using heavy armour.
the old colonel   will never be beaten that i am sure as he will destroy his country first.
and i see it is spreading far and wide in the middle east.
i see the cacer setting in world over.

Alright Bill, I was stationed at RAF Akrotiri when we had to pull out of Libya in 1970. All the NAAFI supplies mainly the ciggies & beer were brought over to Cyprus & sold at give away prices, to say but the least it was party time. I remember the demise of RAF EL Adem. The RAF was ordered out by Gaddafi & told to leave the buildings standing, the silly boy didn’t say usable, so all the lad were issued with sledge hammers & totally wrecked the interior of every building on the camp, the buildings were still standing but they were empty shells. Anecdotal evedence has it that after the withdrawl the RAF sent a Canberra pr9 to photo’ the camp & unfortunately whilst flying over the runway the pilot ’accidently’ dropped his tip tanks taking half the runway out, for which the RAF apologised profusely.

A situation may be desperate but never serious
