The thread is about the Middle East - not the NHS or a supposedly - according to you - manufactured war. No party ever keeps all its promises but how many did Maggie break compared with Blair? At least she was concerned for the country and not herself.
As for cuts to the Armed Forces which was the party in power for thirteen years prior to the current administration? Please don’t repeat your mantra of ’unelected government’ in that respect. Did the Labour Party give the Forces everything they required? Seems to me there were more complaints during those thirteen years than ever I recall during any Tory administration.
I have often slagged off the Tories including Margaret Thatcher but maybe your memory on those posts is not too clear.
Alright Terry, Well me auld mate I do believe that you widened the debate when you posted;
"Tony Blair when we were still suffering under his Premiership - possibly the most disastrous ever but certainly the worst I have lived under."
That gave me the carte blanche to reply.
As for the forces equipment once again the Labour administration faced a black hole in equipment caused by Thatcher’s & Major’s (who was also an unelected PM) cut backs & refusal to buy the required armaments & 18 years of neglect can’t be cured over night especially as Labour also had to repair the damage the Tories had done to things like the NHS, education & the highest unemployment levels since the 30’s as well as them leaving the exchequer heaverly in the red & still recovering from the recessions (they were all national not international recessions) caused by Thatcher & Major.
I term you as one of my friends on this site, & hope that it’s reciprocated, but unfortunately you suffer from selective amnesia.
I laid out the proof of Thatcher manufacturing the Falklands war on FR a couple of years ago in depth & as it’s long & complicated I will not revisit it, all I will say is that most international historian agree with me or should I say I agree with them.
A situation may be desperate but never serious
