Odds and bits 74

We have lots of magpies round here and they are aggressive beggars.  Last week two were busily duffing up a young pigeon which we had to rescue.  Luckily it was able to fly away a while later.
Then, this week one landed on the garden path with something large in its beak.  When it dropped it I saw it was an egg although I have no idea of what kind.
I think I’ll get my airgun out and get some target practice in.  Magpies!!!   Nasty types aren’t they?

TC.

Nice to see you on here Terry, Yes Magpies are aggressive birds but I would rather see them than Sparrowhawks. We seem to have a resident Sparrowhawk and can always tell when it is around as there are not other birds to be seen. I did come across one in the garden one day stading on a pigeon starting to peck at it but when I went to chase it off the Hawk and the pigeon flew off, the pigeon was minus a few feathers. When we were out in the Forest on Wednesday we saw a Lapwing, they are trying to conserve them here and close off several areas between March and June to try and stop the public disturbing them and the Curlews as they nest on the ground.

hi all.
still waiting for the first Daffodil, but we have crocus, and all the other stuff has survived the winter. Greenhouse is now in operation , and has two tubs of potatoes in ,but it is still to cold at night for anything else.  Spent yesterday working on the garden and getting veg beds ready to transplant things into, . We had snow on wednesday night, about 2" but it didn’t last , then yesterday I worked outside without a shirt on , it was so nice . Beans are germinating on the bathroom floor, so are other things which , without labels , i haven’t a clue what they are.Wood stores are gradually getting filled , but waiting for some more trees to be delivered. Cyril the Squirrel is very active with his friends, they are such fun to watch, especially when we are having breakfast.
We have both now started our summer jobs, although mine is only the odd day at the moment . We did have our group of 165 for lunch last Sunday , that went off well, we have the same amount again next Sunday and also at the end of the month.  I have also been doing some cleaning and helping prepare for the season at my other place of work , the cafe  at the foot of the glacier, just a couple of days there, before they open on Monday . There are a couple of pictures of it and where it is , after this load of waffle.I see that you all are prospective David Baileys with such good Pictures.
My Brother in law has now got a Badger in his garden , its only a small garden , but they have discovered that the Badger has eaten his way through all the fences along a row of gardens , and then eaten a hole in the side gate to get out. the RSPCA asked my B/LAW to keep an eye on it , they got a very pithy answer . nough chat  here are the pictures
