chatroom

 Hi Dom,

im sorry to read about the closure of the chat room as an old member and user most day , i think this is a very bad decision for a lot of the retired members who cpome in and chat daily for the comradeship that they enjoyed in the forces ,

chat room

Most members understand that we may get problems with the chat room, it is the best way to keep in touch with members so to get rid of it would be sacriledge, returning monies is the easy way out so please keep it going.  cheers

Chat Room

I have spent many evenings in the Chat room and feel that if it is closed we will have the only place in Forces Reunited where we can have typical service banter, comradeship and welfare topics discussed, It will come as a loss of a vital tool towards promoting inter-service friendship. Shame on you to even consider it.

Another option is simply to make our chat area a free to use area, but that of course usually means you will get all sorts in there!

That wouldnt be a problem as such, if we had the means to  " block" those that  should cause trouble.   We could also have our own moderators ( ie,  2 or 3 people who use the chat room each night) who have the means to  " bounce" any troublemakers.  It works in  paltalk rooms, so why not here???

Today is someones memory tomorrow.... make it a good one

Hhhmmm!!!!

Dom, I think that you and I must have been separated at birth (regardless of the fact that I am probably somewhat older than yourself!). We both enjoy courting contention.

Since I have been using this site there have always been two (min.) chatrooms in operation.
I do not make use of them and have no desire to do so.
However, just as the forums are a major part of many FR users online time, myself included, I see the chatrooms as being the sister to them.
Many members depend on this contact in their lives and it would be an unfortunate decision that precluded their main site usage. It needs also to be borne in mind that the resultant effect could be a definitive decrease in your income to FR. I do not think that this would serve any of us, would it?!
The chatrooms and the forums are the site applications that cause lay members to take up full membership. I appreciate that several hundred thousand simply search here and that suffices their needs.
If there is a financial issue here, why not start charging a nominal amount for basic members. Many other search site do so.
Give ’em a break  Dom. Whilst we would appreciate their joining the forums, why should they give up what they prefer to involve themselves in for something that they may consider ’second best’?
I would feel the same way if the boot were on the other foot.
Mike.

Damnant quod non intellegunt.
