i hope this is not the joke of the day

i read the last post with great sadness.. i for one use the chat room to keep in toutch with lots of very old friends and also meet new ones. i know i like others complain about the rooms and probs in there but........ haveing met and helped lots of new members in there and given on info that helps them find lost friends or how this site works and where and how to look, it seems sad to think it could just be delted . i m cirtain there must be a way of keeping a chat room open so the "old farts"like me can still chat to friends ,, is the site not called forces reunited ??.i can not belive you can give up just because of a problame. come on dom

Dominic I too find it hard to believe that after stating stating in the chat room that everything would be corrected after the break down you now see the only option with the chat room is to close not only the one at fault but also the one that has remained open through the trouble. Many of the people that use this facility have been your long standing Members who enjoy the freedom of a chat with friends on a regular basis and for me personally it was where I met the people who encouraged me and featured in the book I recently published for Charity. I believe that this site has prospered on the continued support of the original paying Members which enabled the present system of free membership to occur. I do of course realise that everything has a financial standing but there should be consideration for the welfare of Members as well. I think that if you find the only option is to close a well used facility without resolution you will have betrayed the basic cause of the very existence of the site as Forces Re-united
which was built on the commitment of ex Service personnel who wished to continue their feelings of comradeship through this site. As an ex Serviceman you will already know that quitting is not a consideration when you have your back o the wall .Only my personal opinion of course Shrubby

Think twice...

With unbelieve I read what you were planning Dom...Please say it isn’t really an option? I came here to find people, and I did, in fact most of the people in the chatroom grew to be like family to me. Without them I would have had it even tougher then it was now, reunions are based on the chatroom, I’m coming over to stay with a chatroomguest for a week, how can you even consider closing it? It has been a support, a social event for most of us, to be able to talk to people, specially for the people who live alone.A refund for these people isn’t the issue, we just need to be able to contact each other, to know there is always someon who can listen, who we can share our joys with, and our sorrows. Seems to me you don’t realise how important the daily chat is for most of us.
I know I didn’t serve in the British Forces as such, after all I am foreign, but I did find a whole new family here.
Think before you take that away from the people the whole site was build around, the EX-Forces, people who deserve to chat with their old mates, that is the least you can do. Take away this chatroom and you’’ll take away the possibility for lots of people to stay with each other by chatting. We, the Chatroom guests, care about each other. What about you?

As one of the of the regular chatroom users, and one who has been there longer than some , I wish to complain about any thought of closure of the chatroom. As some of the other postings here state , we have met old service friends, met new friends who get together at times, helped others who are looking for someone or information about things . If chatroom closed i will close my membership.

chatrooms

dom , the 4 rooms i referred to were the avatar rooms of which we had two the naafi bar and one laughingly refered to as the tent room, or family room, there was also a text room amd a video room , the avatar bar and vid room were both used by many members and the chat room we have now is the one i prefer as i think most members do,this room saw me through a bereavement and serious illness and as i now live alone it is one way i can keep in touch with my very good friends we do occasionally have gripes but they are nothing compared to what i will feel if this room closes , i am not too proud to beg that you keep it open .there are a few of us that still have serving sons and daughters and we can share our fears and joy when they come home . i shall always be grateful for the room it is where i met gordon (big g) who i consider to be my partner . so you see dom it is more than a room to us it is a lifeline and an extended family way of life,

today is remembrance sunday let us all remember ’
