The S.A. 80. Is it up to the job?

Reports are coming in that the S.A.80 is not up to the job in Afghanistan.Developed to the "Bullpup" design at the end of WW11 as an assult rifle apart from the perennial problem of jamming in desert conditions the short barrel is not suitable for picking off targets at long range and gives aiming problems. The light 223/227 ammunition also is prone to wind drift in the valleys and hills of the country. Is it good enough for our boys?!

Dunno whether it is any good or not personally, never having fired one.  The experts who foisted it upon the forces reckon it’s the bees knees and then some.

What was wrong with the SLR anyway?

O.K. Guys I knew  the .303 was going to come up trumps!Have fired both .303 and  S.L.R.  since 1959,S .L.R. is  a heavy beast but can’t beat .303 for accuracy which is why the Fuzzies still use them!
