Hi Pete, Keith. Not a lot going on here to comment on, very little bird activity but weather is milder, just a few spots of rain here and there.
Pete. Hope you really enjoy your vacation and as you said you get your outings so this one is mainly for the missus though you will enjoy it also for sure. 50 - 50 no less and the right way to go as I see it, do enjoy and tell us all about it on your return. Molly will be well cared for having her own little holiday and chances of a boyfriend as well so you say, can’t be bad. Who said its a dogs life, but what did they mean??.
I am reading the journals of the Rangers expedition and find them very interesting, also their site is well presented I think with daily journals.
Best wishes.
Keith. Your Robin seems well established with you as indeed does ours with us, there was actually 3 in the garden last week but the top man soon got rid of the opposition. Plenty of rivalry now with them and the Blackbirds in particular. Boss man here reigns supreme but still we see the Thrush, Robin and other Blackbirds getting in where they can for a snack. Was tempted to do a little corny cartoon as it seems they get more and more cute countering he’s bullying tactics. The paper today says that already they are all pairing off.
Best wishes to all. Syd.

Odds and Bits 49.

Hi George. Loved the pics of your Roses and some lovely blooms there especially that one with the peachy/cream petals. I do not grow any myself now as I have not the space on my small plot. Only one I have is a deep red climber which scrambles through a variegated Honeysuckle and a Ceanothus hedge. It was here when we moved in and we let it get on with it. Not many blooms but they do have a lovely scent.
Late 2007 I sowed some old fashioned Roses seed which duly germinated and during 2008 having potted some of the seedlings on they duly grew. Now about 18 inches tall in individual pots I am wondering if I will get a bloom or two this year. The Hip I got the seeds from came from a beautifully scented  single red flowered variety so what these will be is unknown. They may produce some larger flowers but could just as easily I suppose revert back to the old wild Dogrose type. We will see but I am looking forward to seeing the result either way.
Many thanks for your kind comments ref visiting Wales but truth to tell now we do not as the old song says "get around much anymore", who was that singer?.
We do our shopping and have an occasional trip out but mainly its just local walks. Having said that it is a pleasure to be in touch with you on this site and to share our thoughts and pics with the other folk.
You enjoy.
I liked your pic of yourself with the Poppy and your medal, that was with a Malaya clasp I guess.
Regards. and best wishes to you all. Syd.

Peter my nephew is married to a girl from Puerto Valarta.Hope you and Sheila enjoy the trip.
Ian found a dead Robin in the garage yesterday, we think it flew in and then tried to get out but flew into a window. We did have  three robins visiting but I only saw two today and they always come to the feeder at the same time each day.
