Taking the Chinook.

Prince William was allowed to fly a £10 million pound RAF Chinook helicopter,in desperate short supply for our front line troops in Afghanistan,to London, pick up his brother Harry (who is still on leave from Iraq after coming back about six weeks ago) and then fly to a three day drunken stag party on the Isle Of Wight.
A Royal source claimed that William, who is on attachment to the RAF and has been learning to fly, missed a training session last week, and so the Authorities laid on the Chinook as a training session -Yes of course it was.
How can we have respect for these two and why do their Royal advisers keep on allowing this sort of thing to happen.

The only thing that has changed over the years is the licence of the media. When I was a lad starting work for the Railway the King always travelled to Norfolk by the Royal Train,   THe Royal yacht was there for travel round the world  when flying wasn’t the option, Charles travelling the World on his various jaunts.   All these things were relatively expensive but not so publicised.   Items like this fill the papers and give the threads a subject.

PRINCE William has been given permission to use the aircraft carrier HMS Invincible as a bottle opener at his summer barbecues.

Once in position, next to the barbecue patio, Invincible will be fitted with a small, standard issue bottle opener on the starboard side, below the water line.

It is the latest military asset to be loaned to the young Prince, whose late night, RAF Tornado ’fag runs’ have become a fixture on London’s Fulham Road.

A Ministry of Defence spokesman said: "It’s all standard practice. Last year more than 500 officers completed their flight training by piloting a Chinook helicopter to London, picking up their brother and then flying it to a stag do on the Isle of Wight."

Alright Keith, It’s good to see the young Royals keep up the forces traditions. 80% of us on leave were out getting legless the other 20% had hang overs. What do you expect them to do on leave, go to church, help the mothers union knitting sessions or help with the house cleaning before having an early night.

I remember that when I was stationed in Cyprus, every year just before Xmas a couple of C130’s always had a "training flight to Singapore & on the way back they just happened to load up with "tiger beer". Just to add more surpise they just happened to return in time for the "Block Bars" to open & sell their loads at cost to them. Mind you that was when the forces were for grown ups.

ps If you had seen officer training you would have respect for them, I thought my "basic" was hard enough, in comparison to theirs ours is a walk in park. Unlike most of our politicians they have at least been under the colours.

A situation may be desperate but never serious
