I think that I have asked this once before on FR,
With the total numbers of members on FR why do we see the few usual members posting, members put a point forward and yet we see the usual crowd responding, are the other few 1000 to shy or want to keep a low profile in case they get "shot down" when responding, it is only the regular posters we see/hear from----come on you members we promise not to bite--well not the first time around anyway!!!!

Yeah, let’s stop the boredom and patting each other on the back. I think Dave’s got a point. Maybe more members would post their opinions if they felt that they weren’t going to be jumped on from a great height.

Morality is doing what’s right regardless of what you’re told. Obedience is doing what you’re told regardless of what’s right....What is right is not always popular, and what is popular is not always right.

Hhhmmm!!!!

Or more to the point I think you are overestimating a) the number of full members and b) the number of full members who are interested in posting.
I have ’spoken’ to a good number via internal mail who enjoy simply reading the posts, in and out of their comrade searches.

Agreed, there are a few (and it is in the 10s not 1000) who would like to post. They are not put off by having their posts ’jumped’ on. They are put off by some of the moronic sh*t stirring and downright nasty insulting behaviour of members past and present.
If that should ever stop (dream on!) then it is highly likely that there would be an influx of new posters!

I obviously agree with this being the case not just from my own view but also from those that have been put to me over the last eight years.

Damnant quod non intellegunt.

I’ve had a number of e-mails over the years from members, past and present, saying that they "HAVE" been put off by having their posts jumped on. Some have left the forums because of it.

Don’t conform just because it expected.....that’s what I call a*se licking.
