Searching for information

I have been searching on this site for information on my father who served in the London Irish Fusiliers in WW2. I have not been able to come across his name nor reference to the London irish Fusiliers. Additionally I have had the same problem searching for information on my granfather who served in the Royal Navy. Is the information on this site all encompassing or are the records of those served incomplete? Would appreciate some help on this.
