What if theres no record?

Can’t seem to find my Grandfather among the other WW2 Meakins.
Tried all the variations of Harry but None of them are him.

The records are held by MOD.  They are locked for 75 years until 2020, except for the service person or the offical Next -of - Kin, if the service person is deceased.

There are many records not held by the MOD that are on the site: Mentions in despatches, Medals, Casualties and POWs to name just some, however as Ray correctly states for the full set of ’service records’ these are only held by the MOD in most cases:

Which service are you looking for?

Thanks Tim & Thanks Ray.
My grandfather died when i was a kid around 1970.
He was a Royal Inniskilling Fusilier.
I have his medals which are the service medals for ww2 plus Italy Star & Africa Star.
I imagine his next of kin would be my dad or my uncle.
I don’t understand why there are records on the site for some people but not others if they are kept for 75 years.
anyway thanks for your input it can only lead me closer to finding out something.
