I am very new to this forum and I would greatly appreciate some help in finding out some details about my grandfather’s WWI war records. Unfortunately his name was John Smith. I might have been doing something wrong but I have been unable to find anything about him on this forum.

I would have thought that the above would have been enough to get started but to date nothing.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Many people question why they cannot find records when they have the details. Basically 60% of WW1 records were destroyed by fire in WW2.
Medal cards survived so you should be able to find that using the info you have.
